We've been so busy!

Yes, I haven't posted in over 2 weeks. I'm horrible, I know. Better late than never, though.

We have been going crazy over everything, the robot has kept the team and I extremely busy. I wish I could show you guys some pictures, but all the hubs haven't started yet.

We're well on our way to getting tit done and I'm especially excited for Mall Day!!

Well, I must get back to our notebook, so good bye for now!

KICK-OFF!!

Yes, I was very busy and completely unable to post from BEST Kick-Off, but, give me some credit, I am posting this now.

It went amazing. I didn't really get the game (Which cannot be disclosed at this time because all the other hubs haven't had their kick-offs yet) but I understand now that I read through the rules thoroughly. The only thing I can say is that this year's task is very cool! It's going to be great!

We all packed up in the van and headed down there to Decatur to kick-off and listened to all of the rules and the explanation of the game. Then we headed up to Huntsville and ate lunch at Telinis which was delicious.

That's basically our day in a nutshell besides heading back to Fayetteville to brainstorm for 2 1/2 hours.

Thanks for keeping up with us!

Meeting #2: The Kick-Off Plan

Really short meeting today. Probably only 30 minutes long, but we got some stuff done. Organized our plan for kick-off and figured out a general t-shirt idea. Otherwise, it was really good. Not many people came, but the few who did were ready to listen to the coaches' suggestions. I have a roster of our kids, but not the pictures yet. I will get to that soon.

Here are our kids:
Madison Quick
Nathan Elrod
Brian Rozar
Carrie Rozar
Joe Smith
Matthew Morgan
Jacob White
Conner Dempsey

We're extra small but pretty tight knit.

Meeting #1: Team Building

Time for some fun! This is our lovely super fun meeting we had tonight. And we had some amazing Team Building activities! Woot! Woot!

We built towers out of straws, played a survival game, and learned how to work together. Even if group 3 totally bombed the survival game, we understand how to get things done and play nice. Check out our photos section to see what we did! It was very fun and I enjoyed it immensly. Thanks for keeping up with us. Next meeting is Thursday at 6:00 PM!

BEST Has Officially Started!

We have officially started BEST this year! This 2010 season will hopefully be filled with diligent, quick and satisfying work on our Build, Spirit, Programming and  Media Marketing teams. Though we do not know what the challenge is, the teaser video is very intriguing. I've really been trying to figure it out, but I've yet to fully decipher it. But a challenge is a challenge and here at R.A.R.E. we're definitely up for it. So are our little guys. Did I mention Riverside Christian Academy's other robotics teams? We have two other types of robotics programs. We have First lego League (FLL) and Junior First lego League (JFLL). We cover robotics for grades K-12th. And on the Lego teams we have over 40 kids participating in robotics. Sadly our BEST team is rather small every year. This year we have a pretty good sized group though. I'm not quite sure of the exact number yet, but by next week we will have our individual pictures and biographies of all the team members up.
